Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 states "Here are Wesleyan and Congregational chapels, and a Church room, built in 1898 at a cost of £620"

The oldest part of the church of St John Baptist is the Norman north arcade of the late 12th century.

The transepts are 14th and 15th century work.

The chancel was rebuilt in 1930

The site of a Knights Templar Preceptory lies a mile north of the village.

View from the south-east. The south transept (left) is Decorated in style (probably fourteenth cnetury) but the chancel (in the right foreground) was rebuilt by Wifrid Bond in the early twentieth century on medieval foundations.

In "Brief Details of Chapels in the Grantham Circuit" Revised August 1998 Colin Sheperdson and Allen Griffin state :-

"A chapel, in Church Street, was opened on the 1.11.1812. The foundation stone for the second chapel, on the same site, was laid on the 16.8.1882. The chapel closed in 1951 and was sold in 1953 for use as a village hall but is now in use as a store"
